Actress, Katherine Heigl, would seem to be happy with her elevating status in Hollywood, having had recently won an Emmy for her role on, "Grey's Anatomy," and starring in the summer blockbuster, "Knocked Up." However, when chatting with Vanity Fair, Katherine described the film as "a little sexist," continuing by saying, "It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as goofy, fun-loving guys." She has a good point--I mean, I pretty much feel the same way about the movie. But then again, I didn't STAR IN IT. But, to be fair, I could say that maybe she's regretting her decision to play that role and has decided to go in a different direction, except that her next two films appear to have her playing a character obsessed with finding Mr. Right and call me crazy, but I don't know exactly how that's helping female empowerment exactly, unless you consider how many millions of dollars she'll be making off the movies. And you must know how strongly I feel about this, by the length of that last run-on sentence.

I used to like Izzy on last seasons Greys and now that I don't like her this season I wouldn't watch any movie she is in.

katherine heigl is a wench. she's the last person to be promoting female empowerment with photos like this: http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/5868/katherine20heigl8ev.jpg

and this one too: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/185/421580726_c771b1f968.jpg

i really want her to stop opening her big, fat, irrelevant, mouth...especially since any mediocre actress could have done the same job, or probably better, than she did in knocked up. the bitterness is apparent isn't it?

I really dispise Katherine Heigl, but I think my hatrid isnt really directed toward her as a person, it's toward Izzy. God, I hate Izzy. Oh and also because Saundra Oh should have won that Emmy.

I saw the movie Knocked Up and didn't find it to be sexist at all. Not that it was the entire point of the movie, but I actually thought the birthing scene was very empowering in that it showed the crowning- which obviously means a certain view of the vagina was necessary--which was the first time I can recall a mainstream movie showing a woman's sexual organs in the process of giving life which is a powerful thing. That, to me, makes the movie pretty okay. Not to mention the fact that the men in the movie who were acting "fun loving" were very immature, and had to learn to step up to the responsibilities they had signed up for (kinda). And the women, one of whom was just actually nuts, weren't shrews by any stretch.

Lastly, to Cris, I don't think taking a picture that makes you appear sexy is ... disempowering. A woman can be sexy and intelligent, I think to think otherwise is actually what lacks empowerment. Yes, women have been exploited throughout the centuries, but let us not continue to box them in with either sexy or smart.

Well anyway, those are just my thoughts... maybe I'm completely off.

I dislike her and I stopped watching Grey's Anatomy at the beginning of last season because the backstage antics were taking away from the show. And also because everyone is so insanely self-involved.

I do kind of agree with her. The whole scene with the woman being told she's too old to get in the club almost made me cry.
